Hi Kare, I read through your post, and you're right on. Seth built an instant affinity group for the book (as of today there's nearly several thousand people exploring Triibes). He also built a solid pre-order base.

I've long viewed Seth Godin as a master practitioner of Cialdini's work, but he doesn't just "take" from his community. With tools such as his blog, he's constantly giving back to his community and fanbase.

I read Seth's blog daily, and I know that I've gotten far more value from his posts than the price of the $15 pre-order via Amazon. His invitation was a true "no-brainer" for me.

Seth's probably right, the people who jumped most quickly on the offer were also the ones who would be most likely to buy the book.

Bill,
I, too, noted Seth's use of a Cialdini-researched influence tip here
