Academic Interests
Bill is the son of a librarian, so he fell in love with books and literature at an early age. This lead to a deep hunger for knowledge. Whenever he enters a bookstore, he’s instinctively drawn to the business section. You’ll often find him reading a business book or journal (HBR, S+B, or The Economist).
Prior to entering the business world, Bill taught English Literature and Composition at St. Louis University. As an academic, he developed a deep love of theater and books. He holds undergraduate degrees in English Literature and Theater from St. John’s University (MN); a Master’s in Drama from Washington University in St. Louis (MO), and he studied for a Ph.D. in English Literature at St. Louis University (MO). He’s still searching for the right moment to dive into a rousing discussion of James Joyce’s Ulysses during a business lunch. However, it hasn’t happened yet.
For the past six years, he’s developed an increasing interest in Social Capital theory, and if he were to go back to university today, that’d be his academic focus.
Personal Passions
He is known by his friends, family, and clients as an exceptional baker. He learned how to bake traditional German sweets from his maternal grandmother, Rosemary, who actively raised him during his childhood. Each holiday season he bakes and ships over 75 pounds of cookies, cakes, and sweetbreads to people around the world.
