Global Relationships: Be a Hub, Not a Spoke

When you build global relationships, you have to think and act like a hub, not a spoke. Passive mindsets and reactive behaviors won’t work.

When you’re in the same office with someone, you can catch them as they walk by your cube. When you’re working with colleagues around the world, there’s a very simple rule.

Unless you reach out, you’re invisible to them. When you’re invisible, several things happen:

• You miss opportunities;
• Your connections weaken;
• You rely on others to keep you connected; and
• Your career quickly stagnates.

That’s why it’s so important to reach out and regularly ping someone.
