Healthiness, Happiness, and Success

I want my friends to be healthy, happy, and successful. However, I tell them that they get to define all three terms for themselves.

  • What does it mean for you to be healthy?
  • What does it mean for you to be happy?
  • What does it mean for you to be successful?
Everyone will answer this question differently. That’s the richness of life.
If you are a parent, your children will find different answers than your own. Support their goals. Don’t force them into reliving yours.
If you are a spouse, support your spouses dreams–and accept they naturally will differ from your own.
If you are someone’s friend–learn their goals and support them as they strive for healthiness, happiness and success. Don’t measure them by your standards. They will feel stressed and you will be disappointed.
When you measure people by your goals (rather than theirs), both of you will likely be disappointed.
